Walking among nature, legends and rural architecture
This is a 17 km long trek that led you to enjoy all the beauties of the area between Minervino and Giuggianello and discover the hidden treasures of nature, legend and rural architecture.
You start from Minervino, and you follow a quiet local road used only by farmers who work the countryside. You arrive in an area where you can see most of many menhir and dolmen scattered among olive trees; dolmen Grassi at first, then you will arrive in the Megaliths Park where dolmen Stabile is located, following the menhir Crocecaduta and, eventually, the suggestive place so called “Massi della Vecchia”. Descending from the hill that looks towards Muro Leccese, you arrive near the hill of San Giovanni, where you can visit the crypt dedicated to Saint having a stunning overview of the surrounding area.
Leaving the hill, the route leads near the Polisano menhir, and then enters in Giuggianello. Here you can visit the Palazzo Lubelli with the recently restored Civic Museum, the heart of the Tradition of peasant civilization and, very near, the ancient hypogeum oil mill.
The route led you walking for another couple of kilometers before reaching the hamlet of Specchia
Gallone, next to Minervino.
