the charming of giant stones
Leaving from the centre of Giuggianello you can learn the thousand-year history of the place, enjoying the peace and quiet of the surrounding countryside.
After leaving the Civic Museum, you ‘ll walk towards the municipal old underground oil mill and then you can immerse yourself in the magical colours of the Salento countryside. You‘ll walk along quiet roads protected by dry stone walls and admiring the ancient pagghiare scattered among olive trees; after that you will arrive near the Massi della Vecchia, very suggestive place where geology meets ancient legends, continuing towards the farmhouse Quattromacine, from where, making a small digression you will arrive at the menhir Crocecaduta, one of few menhir laying on the grass.
Finally you will arrive in the Parco dei Megaliti with the dolmen Stabile just in the spotlight, a very mystical place.
On the way back, another evocative place is on the top of the hill of San Giovanni, where you can visit the san Giovanni crypth having a nice overview about surrounding area before returning to Giuggianello.
